Hospital Expansion Still A Top Priority In Quesnel

Cariboo North MLA Coralee Oakes says expansion of the emergency room and intensive care unit at G.R. Baker Hospital in Quesnel remains a top priority.

Oakes says she met with hospital staff and physicians on Friday (Jan 27)…

“About what are the next steps for the expansion and improvements to the emergency room, our ICU and our day center. When Minister Lake was here he did have the opportunity to have a tour to really understand what was needed so again it was just an opportunity for me to connect to the hospital and to listen to what their comments are.”

Northern Health has called the existing emergency room, built in 1986, “woefully inadequate.”

The new space being proposed would be around three times the size of the current space and would provide better flow for not only staff but also patients.
