Hoyer back in BC following gold medal win at 2017 X Games

Still in disbelief and excitement is how the local gold medal winner of the first-ever X Games Snow BikeCross feels.

Brock Hoyer of Williams Lake made the 20-hour drive back from Aspen, Colorado and is now in Revelstoke working on some film projects and preparing to compete for his first round of the Canadian Snow Bike MX National series.

“Right after the win it was overwhelming how many people reached out and said congrats, messages and cheering, and Facebook and Instagram,” he says.

“My phone has never been so busy in its life.”

Hoyer says there was a lot of sacrifices and hard work leading to his win.

He says although he thought he threw it away after hitting the deck, he knew he just had to put his head down and that it’s not over until the finish line.

“Just being a small town kid, and still having tons of small town backing, I feel like I bring this medal home to everyone in Williams Lake and to Canada.”
