Ownership group ‘Not Going to Quit’ Dream of Bringing Junior Hockey in Williams Lake

A Williams Lake resident says he’s not going to quit the dream of bringing back a junior hockey team.

Rob Sandrock says despite Sunday’s news that the league had voted against the expansion, he’s not discouraged.

“We’re going to keep plugging away and do everything we can to bring hockey back to Williams Lake. So it’s a step back, but nothing that we can’t overcome.”

Sandrock with Tyrel Lucas and Ryan Bailey had formed an ownership group to put in the bid.

He says the KIJHL will hopefully have a better understanding of their own league come June, and that if they do, they will possibly resubmit their application for the following season.

An estimated $1.9 million dollars could be overturned in Williams Lake by having a junior hockey team, according to Sandrock.

He says that although there is a plan B that can be hopefully unveiled in time, the group does not want to jump ahead of themselves.
