Mayor and Council pleased with Downtown Development

Development of the Slumber Lodge will soon be in the works following Tuesday night’s regular city council meeting in Williams Lake.

Mayor Walt Cobb and Council unanimously approved a zoning amendment bylaw.

“They’ve got an application in for rezoning. They’re looking at building a 10 unit apartment but with that and the statement I made tonight also, I will do whatever I can do to make sure that the rest of the property is cleaned up at the same time or within the near future anyway.”

Cobb says 2017 is off to great start for the development of the downtown core with Councillor Scott Nelson pointing to the construction of Mr. Mikes, the redevelopment of the Sam Ketcham Pool, and 70 residential care beds at the former Cariboo Lodge.

Council also unanimously approved a zoning amendment for the redevelopment of the former Lake City Ford for commercial use including a drive-thru-restaurant.
