Investigation Confirms W-18 in Lower Mainland

A highly potent and harmful substance that is 100 times stronger than fentanyl has been confirmed in the Lower Mainland.

Sgt. Annie Linteau with the Lower Mainland District RCMP says that it’s very concerning that W-18 has been seized as the result of an ongoing drug trafficking investigation.

“Regardless of the drug, what we need the public to know is that W-18 was seized among several items that were packaged for street level drug distribution. The seizure once again confirms that users have no idea what is being sold to them.”

The investigation that focused on a criminal network working within the South Fraser to Fraser Valley area had resulted in the seizure which included a quantity of heroin, cocaine, methamphetamine and a small plastic bag of then unknown white powder.

Linteau says that the investigation remains ongoing and that it is too early to confirm if W-18 is present in other communities.
