South Cariboo Search and Rescue Mark Avalanche Awareness Day

South Cariboo Search and Rescue will be holding a seminar on avalanches this morning.

Avalanche and Mountain Safety Director, Shane Gunn says the training will coincide with Avalanche Awareness Day.

“That’s what this course is all about-is learning how to read those forecasts and recognize the signs when you’re in the back country. Just to limit your exposure and risk when you’re in avalanche terrain.”

The free seminar and training, which is open to all ages of the public, gets under at 10 at the South Cariboo Search and Rescue hall located on HorseLake Rd.

Gunn says they will also be hosting the course up in Williams Lake at the Central Cariboo Search and Rescue Hall on February 18 and 19.
