Oakes Vows To Fight For BC Wine Industry

Cariboo North MLA Coralee Oakes, also the Minister responsible for the Liquor Distribution Branch, is confident that the Provincial Government has done nothing wrong in allowing grocery stores to sell B.C. wine.

Oakes is responding to allegations from American wine makers who are challenging the move saying it violates international trade agreeements…

“We will continue to work closely with our federal counterparts and Global Affairs Canada, which is who works on international trade obligations but again we are within compliance of NAFTA and CETA so we are confident and will continue to defend our small businesses and we’ll defend our industry.”

Oakes says the next step in a World Trade Organization dispute is consultation.
