RCMP remind residents to be mindful of phone scams

With the holiday season ongoing and generous spirits floating around, there are some trying to take advantage of it all.

Some residents of 100 Mile House and the surrounding area have complained of an increased frequency of fraudulent phone calls.

RCMP Corporal Clint Lange offers advice on how to avoid being scammed.

“Phone and internet scams, there are so many of them out there.”

“We just really advise people to be cautious. If it sounds too good to be true, it very likely is.”

Lange recommends that concerned residents can call PhoneBusters, an extension of the Canadian Anti-Fraud center at 1-888-495-8501.
