Lilgert loses bid for appeal

The BC Court of Appeal has rejected a lawyer’s arguments and have upheld convictions of former navigator Karl Lilgert, who was convicted in two counts of negligence causing the death of two individuals both from the 108 area.

Karl Lilgert will serve 4 years in jail for the sinking of the Queen of the North Ferry which claimed the lives of Gerald Foisy and Shirley Rosette.

The ferry which did not change course sank on March 22, 2006 after sailing straight into Gil Island.
