Quesnel Mayor new chair of CBAC

Quesnel Mayor Bob Simpson is the new Chair of the Cariboo Chilcotin Beetle Action Coalition (CBAC).

Simpson, speaking to us from the organizations Annual General Meeting in Williams Lake, says CBAC has struggled over the past year and many feel that it has lost its way.

“What we’re committed to doing with each other in the New Year at our first meeting is to come back and really make sure we understand the purpose and intent of CBAC.”

“Then to understand how the money that we have left will be put to the best use to help all of our communities through the transition.

Simpson says there is still 2.2 million dollars in CBAC’s bank account.

He says they have to be more than just a funding agency however and look at what economic development activities are already occurring at the community level and work with those existing agencies.
