Highway 97 rest stop toilets get overhaul

Earlier this fall the City of Williams Lake decided it would no longer put money into the road side rest stop south of the city.

That decision was reached based on the Highway 97 expansion and concerns much, if not all of the pull out would be lost to construction.

However, as Councilor Scott Nelson says, a deal with the province was reached and subsequently the province funded an upgrade of the toilets. “What we did do was the city worked out an agreement with the ministry to be able to have our washrooms upgraded at a cost of about 125-thousand dollars so we’ve got the most fantastic, cleanest brand newest washrooms in the Cariboo south of Williams Lake”

The upgrades are part of the provinces 10-year, 9-million dollar plan to make improvements at existing rest areas as well as building new ones.
