Air Quality Advisory For Quesnel Lifted

UPDATE December 17: An air quality advisory that was in effect for Quesnel as well as Williams Lake Saturday morning has now ended.

Original Story Published December 16: The Ministry of Environment and Northern Health have issued an Air Quality Advisory for Quesnel.

Ralph Adams, an Air Quality Meteorologist, says it is due to high concentrations of fine particulates…

“It’s mostly due the fact that we are in the winter heating season and because of the weather, with the Arctic very cold air inversions aloft, we have very poor dispersion so over the last days the levels have been building up and this morning went over the threshold level.”

Adams says things are expected to improve over the weekend as the weather changes.

People with underlying medical conditions are advised to stay inside.
