Quesnel Council Shuffles Transit Routes

Quesnel City Council has decided to change things up a bit when it comes to transit.

Jeff Norburn, the Director of Community Services, went over a number of options on Tuesday night. (Dec 6)

“We would eliminate route 4, we would reduce the frequency of service to Westland and Phillips loops so it’s not a complete redution it’s just some reduction in the number of time that those loops are done.”

Route 4 that is being eliminated was the express bus to South Quesnel that, according to a BC Transit review, wasn’t being utlized.

Council decided to take the savings from these two reductions to add some service.

That includes earlier service to West Quesnel and North Fraser Drive on Saturdays and adding a weekday evening route to West Quesnel and Red Bluff.

Norburn noted that college students have expressed an interest in those two changes.

They will be done on a trial basis.

All of the changes won’t take place until September of 2017.
