New and returning students at the TRU Campus in Williams Lake were presented with financial awards to assist them with their post-secondary education.
Dr. Ray Sanders, Executive Director for TRU, says the awards would not have not possible without the commitment of local businesses and organizations.
“With the rising costs of education and the limited amount of funding that colleges and universities have, we just simply could not do this without our partners.”
“Our partners are key to having successful students.”
Sanders adds that the bursaries are a good and worthwhile investment.
“Many of our students would not afford that level of education without these scholarships.”
“We have scholarships that are awarded by the True Grit Group in the spring but these are for returning students.”
16 students were received the more than $22,000 in bursaries this morning.
