Daring rescue from burning vehicle

It wasn’t reality TV, it was real life and a motorist owes his life to several other drivers.

Thursday night right around Chasm Road on Highway 97, a trucker had stopped to help a motorist who had slid off the highway when he heard another crash and turned to see a car had gone off the highway, slammed into a power pole, flipped and burst into flames.

As he called 911 and got his fire extinguisher, other drivers stopped to assist and they were able to put the fire out and get the male driver out of the car.

The driver, whose name has not been released, was transported to 100 Mile House Hospital and is reported to be in stable condition.

It did take close to 20 minutes for an ambulance to reach the scene.

Highway conditions at the time were reported to be very slippery.
