longtime williams lake volunteers honoured

The sky may have been grey and overcast but the sun was shinning yesterday afternoon on two longtime residents of Williams Lake.

Surrounded by friends, Jim and Ruth Fraser attended a plaque unveiling ceremony at the Cemetery Garden in honour of their lifetime of volunteering and giving back to the community and the people around them.

When it was over, Jim had this to say.

“It’s such a great thing to have something like this dedicated to you, we both appreciate it very much”.

And his wife Ruth was pleased and humbled.

“ I think it’s just wonderful, I really don’t deserve it. I’m still trying to keep up with things but not so easy any more”.

Williams Lake Mayor Walt Cobb had the honor of unveiling the plaque on behalf of the city and its citizens.
