avalanche canada adds new features to their website

Backcountry users will see new features this winter when they go to Avalanche Canada’s website to check the daily avalanche forecast.

Karl Klassen, Warning Service Manager for Avalanche Canada explains what one of those additions is all about.

“W e have a new product called the Hot Zone report. We’re experimenting with some ideas for how to deliver information to places where it’s been difficult or impossible for us to produce avalanche forecast in the past. An  Avalanche forecasts requires a fair amount of data about the weather, snow pack conditions, avalanche conditions”.

According to Klassen Hot Zone Reports will provide information on avalanche conditions and general risk management advice for a particular area.

Another change to the Avalanche Canada website is to add more weather stations over the coming season.
