Indemnities To Go Up For Quesnel City Council

Quesnel City Council is getting a raise.

Director of Finance Kari Bolton delivered the news at last night’s weekly meeting…

“The consumer price inflation rate for September 2016 was 1.8 percent so that will calculate to an increase to the budget of about 25-hundred dollars.”

In terms of the individual numbers what this means is that the Mayor will get a 768 dollar a year increase up to $43,433.

The 6 Councellors will see their indemnities go up about 263 dollars to just under $14,902 annually.

It is the first raise in a few years for this Council.

The politicians decided not to take the increase the past couple of years because they had to make several budget cuts and chose to “lead by example.”
