30th Anniversary for BC’s Visitors Center Network.

Tomorrow marks a special day for the Williams Lake Visitors Center and for all those centers across the province who belong to the Visitor Center Network.

It was 30 years ago, during Expo 86 in Vancouver, that the province wanted to see the program of ambassadors extended across B.C.

Those centers in and around the Cariboo Chilcotin are among the first and in fact, Claudia Blair, the Executive Director of the Williams Lake center was an original member of the volunteer committee set up to get the ball rolling and she is the only original left and herself is celebrating 30 years of offering top-notch information to visitors from all over the world who stop and ask for help.

Blair says the most often asked for information is maps and area booklets and directions to everything from the greatest known land mark to the location of the grocery store.

Several area dignitaries will be on hand tomorrow for the brief celebration including both area MLA’s Donna Barnet and Coralee Oakes, along with Williams Lake mayor Walt Cobb and some of his council, chamber of commerce executives will be there as will CCCTA CEO Amy Thacker and Patty Morgan of the Quesnel Visitor Center.

The event kicks off at 2pm at the Williams Lake Discovery Center
