Mayor Addresses Why No Public Transit Options Exist During Holiday Season

With the holiday party season starting to roll out, safe driving programs are in full swing in the Cariboo.

Except in 100 Mile House where there is no such program and no public transit option.

Mayor Mitch Campsall says it’s not from lack of trying and adds that it’s questionable as to whether a cab company can be commercially viable in town.

“We got two different people looking into starting a cab service in town and we’ve done everything we can to make it as easy as possible for them to get a cab service in town.”

“It’s just not affordable for our community.”

Mayor Campsall would be supportive if a group wanted to emulate a program like Operation Red Nose in Williams Lake, which is in its 7th year.

“If the volunteer organization in our community wanted to do that, we would 100% supportive of it.”
