legion poppy campaign to start today in the cariboo

Starting today thousands of legion members across the country will be volunteering their time to distribute poppies and raise money for veterans and their families.

Joe Bazan Poppy Campaign Chair for the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 139 in Williams Lake says it takes a lot of helping hands to put this all together.

“We have to check the conditions of all the poppies and the crosses and get it all organized. Then we have to collect all of the materials prior to Remembrance Day so they can be displayed at the cenotaph. It’s a massive undertaking and we certainly rely on volunteers”.

The first poppy presentation in Wiliams Lake will be made this morning at 10:30 to Mayor Walt Cobb at the City Hall Cenotaph.
