Quesnel Runners Earn Trip To Provincials

A total of 14 Quesnel athletes have qualified for the Provincial High School Cross Country Running Championships.

Olivia Baptiste and Aleesha Bautista, both from Correlieu, highlighted the individual performances at the Zone Championships in Quesnel on Saturday with first place finishes in the Senior and Junior Girls races respectively.

Aleesha won by one second.

Others making the podium included Dane Jacobsen who was 2nd in Senior Boys.

Bazil Spencer won bronze for Junior Boys and Olivia Moody was 3rd in Senior Girls, narrowly missing a silver medal by just one second.

Scott Sargent from Correlieu also qualified for Provincials.

The Quesnel Junior School girl’s team won a silver medal so all six will be going to the Provincials.

Megan Strand was a bronze medal winner in Bantam Girls while Hannah Vaughan Ferrell was third in Juvenile Girls.

Jett McCall, Jessica Perlitz, Amber Proudfoot and Lucy Pontius will join them.

Two Junior Boys, Jake Beaudry and Christopher Henderson, also earned a trip to Kelowna on November 5th.
