Quesnel Gets Money For Downtown Loo

Quesnel now has it’s money for a downtown bathroom.

City Manager Byron Johnson confirmed at last night’s Council meeting that they were successful in getting 249 thousand dollars from BC’s new Rural Dividend Fund.

Some of that money will be used for the bathroom.

The focus of the money is on accessibility.

Johnson says there is an education component for businesses but also some actual help to make changes.

He says “there are dollars, 60 percent matching fund dollars, to help businesses to do some retrofits so it’s actual hard money to help them do some of this work.”

Johnson says the money will also help the City do an accessibility audit on itself.
