Quesnel School Board Reacts To Firing Of Vancouver Board

The Chair of Quesnel’s Board of Education calls it “unfortunate” that the Provincial Government has fired Vancouver’s Board of Education.

Tony Goulet says as Trustees they are elected to make tough decisions in the best interests of the students and part of that job under legislation is submitting a balanced budget…

“I think we’ve always been advocating here on behalf of public education and i think we’ve been trying to do that the best we can by passing a balanced budget and still like i said advocating on behalf of the system.”

Goulet says he doesn’t know all of the details but it is his understanding that there was more going on with the Vancouver Board than just not presenting a balanced budget.

He says on that note however, the Quesnel Board does feel that the funding system needs to be changed.

Goulet says the way to do that is to work with the BC School Trustees Association to put pressure on the Provincial Government.
