Former Barkerville Fire Chief Honored

A new fire truck building in Wells has been dedicated to the memory of Barkerville’s late fire chief Ray Beaulieu.

The current fire hall in the District of Wells was not big enough to house their new fire truck and extreme weather conditions in the region also made it essential to have a heated building.

The District now has that thanks to a 25 thousand dollar grant from Farm Canada’s AgriSpirit Fund as well as donations from West Fraser, The city of Quesnel, the District of Wells and the Province as well as many individual donors.

It is located adjacent to the current fire hall and has been dedicated to the memory of Beaulieu, who was killed in a tragic accident back in 2014.

Beaulieu played a significant role in securing the new fire truck for Barkerville and Wells.
