Williams Lake welcome sign is history

There is a substantial amount of work south of Williams Lake as the twinning of Highway 97 continues it’s northward push.

For one noticeable feature on the highway, that work spells the end.

Williams Lake Council has opted to shut down the information pull out on the east side of the highway and as we hear from Williams Lake Mayor Walt Cobb, the move will save the city some needed cash…” it’s expensive number one, but the indications are that as Highway 97 is four-laned, that area is going to be eaten up anyway”.

The city boasts a beautiful, state of the art Discovery Center on the outskirts of the highway, closer to the heart of the city.

The work on Highway 97 between Williams Lake and 150 Mile House is expected to last until November 30th for this season.
