Chemical Spill Closes School and Businesses in 100 Mile House

A reported chemical leak from the back of a truck parked overnight in 100 Mile House forced the closure of Peter Skene Ogden Secondary School and some surrounding businesses in the area this morning.

100 Mile House Mayor, Mitch Campsall, gives us some details.

“A truck came in and when they opened up the back there was leaking of a chemical and they followed the right procedures. Our fire department got in there to make sure it didn’t go any further and basically protecting everybody and anything and making sure that there was no issue.”

Campsall says that a cleanup crew has been brought in from Kelowna and another team may possibly be on the way and that they are expecting the area to be under watch until at least later tonight.

We are still awaiting more details at this time.
