Quesnel Kangaroos Will Have To Wait For Potential Help

The Quesnel Kangaroos Senior Hockey Club will have to wait until next month to find out if they will be getting a break on using the Twin Ice Arenas.

The North Cariboo Joint Planning Committee had to defer a decision last night to their October 11th meeting because they lost quorum during the meeting.

Jeff Norburn, the Director of Community Services with the City, did review what the club was looking for.

“The club has reported that they have been losing about 10 thousand dollars a year over the last few years and they basically indicated that in order to remain financially sustainable they are looking to reduce their expenses by approx 10 thousand dollars a year.“

Norburn says their hope is that some, or all of that, can be achieved by paying less for their use of the Twin Arenas.

The club is also looking for the Joint Planning Committee to forgive the 44-hundred dollars it owes in advertising fees.

Norburn noted that other teams in the Kangaroos` league were paying a similar rate for ice.

He also says that the team is going ahead with this season regardless of their decision.
