williams lake residents making bail to help make a difference in the fight against cancer

Everyone is getting into the spirit at Spirit Square in Williams Lake.

That’s where the 6th Annual Cops for Cancer fundraiser is going on until two this afternoon.

RCMP members have been arresting some well known Lake city residents and putting them in their mock jail cell until they can make bail.

Constable Andrew waters says the jail birds have done a good job so far raising money and the public as well.

“Yeah they’ve stopped in, they’re curious about what’s going on and they’re donating to the cause. They’re bringing coffee for the inmates and things like so it’s great to see support like that as well”.

And how much do they hope to raise when the event is over?

“Our minimum goal is a m minimum twelve thousand and we’re looking to exceed that” Waters said.

All money raised from the jail and bail along with the donation barbecue will go to the Canadian Cancer Society, Pediatric Cancer Research and Camp Good Times.
