WL Council – Budget Discussion

It is that time of the year, time for municipal councils to being the arduous task of getting down to shaping the budget for next year and Williams Lake is no exception.

Council last night accepted the recommendation of the interim CAO, Wayne Thiessen, but not without some discussion.

Councilor Laurie Walters expressed concern that the entire council might not be on the same page…”the only concern that I have is that I really feel
that we haven’t had an opportunity as a council this year to sit down and talk about what our priorities are and give clear direction to our staff and different departments.”

The budget process gets underway Thursday with the first meeting and they will have a lengthy report to go over.
It is the foundation of the five year plan for Williams Lake and one councilor called the report pessimistic and another optimistic.
