Tour De Cariboo Marks 24 Years

It wasn’t the best weather for a lengthy bike ride, but about 50 hardy souls took to the streets and highways this morning in support of the 24th annual Tour De Cariboo in support of the Big brothers and Big Sisters of Williams Lake.

Spokesperson Melissa Newberry, the Executive Director of the organization admits the organizers were a bit concerned but over the last week, registrations increased …”we were a little worried a week or two, but we’re up to 45 riders. We typically have between 60 and 70 so the numbers have come up and we’re really happy.”

The event sees the riders cover a 76 kilometer ride to Gavin Lake and this year, something new, they added 24 kilometers for those who want to do a full 100 kilometer ride.

All the monies raised stay in the community.

The next big fund raiser is the annual Bowl for Kids in April. That is a national event held right across the country.

Something going on in the Cariboo you think people should know about?
