TRU gets new funding for first nations programs

Victoria has announced funding in the amount of 3.6-million dollars for 11 post secondary institutions across the province, including Thompson Rivers University in Williams Lake.

Dr Ray Sanders, the executive director of TRU is excited about how this additional funding will be used to implement a couple of new programs: “at Thompson Rivers university Williams Lake we’ve got a couple of grants that are running out of this particular money, one is university preparation and also educational assistant program as a community support worker program in Redstone and it’s also in partnership with Alexis Creek Indian Band.”

Dr Sanders says this is funding that really helps people in the first nations communities as the school moves forward.
