Fire ban lifted in Cariboo

With the cooler, wet weather we have been experiencing, the Ministry of Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations, Wildfire Service is announcing the end of bans on category 3 fires.

Category three fires are those larger than two meters in height and three meters wide, but also includes the burning of stubble or grass over point 2 of a hectare as well as a couple of other fire types.

And while the ban is being lifted as of noon tomorrow, you still need to get a permit.

Natasha Broznitsky, the areas Fire Information Officer explains, ” anyone wishing to light a category 3 fire must obtain a burn registration number ahead of time by calling 1-888-797-1717 between 8:30 and 4:30.”

For all the information regarding burning and restrictions that may be in affect, you can go to www.bcwildfire.ca or call 1-888-3-FOREST.
