Quesnel RCMP responded to a serious incident in West Quesnel late last (Sept 6) night.
Sergeant Chris Riddle says they were called to a residence in the 900 block of Anderson Drive at around 11-30.
He says they were investigating a complaint that a 40-year old man had entered his acquaintances’ residence armed with a knife.
Riddle says he was reportedly distraught and under the influence of drugs and was causing damage to the property inside.
He says RCMP quickly set up a perimeter to contain the area as a public safety measure.
Riddle says additional resources were called in, including an RCMP crisis negotiator, who was able to speak with the male and have him exit the residence without further incident.
Riddle says the male was taken into custody by police at around 1 a.m. and is now facing several charges.
Fortunately no one was hurt.
