Man Injured In Helicopter Crash In South Cariboo

There was a helicopter crash in the South Cariboo over the long weekend.

100 Mile House RCMP say it happened on Friday (Sept 2) near No Name Lake, north of Eagle Creek.

Corporal Brian Lamb says their investigation revealed that a helicopter, attempting to lane on a designated landing pad, ended up crashing into a nearby creek after a possible mechanical issue.

Lamb says the male pilot was the only occupant.

He says he was coherent and conscious upon initial attendance and Lamb says his injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

He was airlifted to hospital in 100 Mile House and then later transported to Kamloops.

Lamb says the entire tail section of the helicopter was tore off in the crash and the cab was quite damaged as well.

The investigation has now been handed over to the Transportation Safety Board.
