Williams Lake sewer costs

Williams Lake City Council has asked staff to review the city’s sewer-related bylaws.

The goal is to update the bylaws and to analyze the current sources of revenue from sewers and how it currently affects those paying that tax and how to make it fair for everyone.

Mayor Walt Cobb tells us there is one small area in the city where the tax payments are not equal: “the budget used to be divided and storm sewers were separate from sewer and we’ve kind of rolled it all together but there is a section, a small section of town that don’t have storm sewers, they have ditches they don’t pay the parcel tax, so we just gotta figure out a way so everybody pays equally.”

Cobb says this affects a very small number of homes, may be about 20.
