cops for cancer fundraiser today in 100 mile house

Some pretty well known 100 Mile House residents will be spending time in jail today…for a good cause.

Cops for Cancer will be holding a Jail in Bail Fundraiser today from ten until two outside of Save on Foods.

Once these jailbirds have been arrested by the local RCMP they have to raise bail money to be released.

Jamie Macpherson is a Primary Care Paramedic with BC Ambulance as well as a Fire Fighter with 100 Mile FIre Rescue and she explains where all the “bail” money will be  going.

“All the money goes to pediatric cancer through the Canadian Cancer Society, part of it goes to Cancer Research and the other half goes to support programs one of them being Camp Good Time. It’s a summer camp for kids and it’s medically supported. We have doctors from Children’s Hospital and nurses and the kids with cancer can get their chemo while they’re at camp with their parents and their siblings”.

Macpherson will also be taking part in the Canadian Cancer Society’s Cops for Cancer Tour de Coast next month riding from the Lower Mainland to the Sunshine Coast raising money for Pediatric Cancer Research.
