Fraser Institute’s Numbers Don’t Add Up According To Quesnel School Board Chair

The Fraser Institute is out with it’s latest controversial rankings for High Schools.

Cariboo schools, as they do traditionally, finished well down on the list.

Lake City Secondary was ranked 282nd out of 294 schools, Correlieu Secondary in Quesnel was 229th and Peter Skene Ogden in 100 Mile House was 203rd.

Tony Goulet, the Chair of Quesnel’s Board of Education, says they don’t put a lot of stock in these results…

“As a Board not too much. They tend to, if you look at results, favour the private schools. It is totally based on the make up of the schools, so the numbers sort of are what they are, they do the test and its all dependent on who takes the test, how they administer those tests to get those results, so we don’t read much into these numbers.”

Goulet says the province is looking at a different model for administering tests.
