Plane “Crash” at Quesnel Airport

Emergency personnel responded to an incident out at the Quesnel Airport this afternoon.

Sylvain Gauthier, Quesnel’s Emergency Services Coordinator, says they were informed at around 2 o’clock of a possible airplane crash at the airport and that an airplane was on fire.

He says Quesnel Emergency Services responded and on arrival he noticed that their was an airplane on the runway with the main landing gear collapsed.

Gauthier says the pilot was the only person on the small single engine plane and they were not hurt.

Besides the Quesnel Volunteer Fire Department, Quesnel RCMP, BC Ambulance and the Airport Authority all responded.

The investigation has now been turned over to the RCMP and the Transportation Safety Board.
