Quesnel has never been better staffed than it is now.
That from Doctor Dietrich (Dee-trick) Furstenberg, who is the Chief of Staff in Quesnel.
“Every single practice in this town now has a full-time attending physician. We also have, of which the PRA program, we also have a couple of physicians who are starting in the primary healthcare clinic, which is a northern health sponsored clinic, these patients will be returning to the traditional population which have not had a family physician as well,
Furstenburg says a big part of the success in getting so many doctors to come to Quesnel is the province’s Practice Ready Assessment BC Program.
Three of these physicians started in Quesnel this month.
They underwent a rigorous assessment process, spending three months with a BC physician who evaluates their skills as they care for patients.
Physicians coming out of this program commit to practice for three years in a designated rural community in need.
