Big Changes For Medicinal Marijuana Users

Patients will doctors approval now have the right to grow medical cannabis across Canada.

The federal government announced changes today in response to a federal court ruling this spring which upheld patients rights to grow their own.

Deputy Health Minister Jacqueline Bogden says people will also be able to designate others to grow for them.

“In not in all instances will they be able to produce for themselves, some individuals who access this program are actually quite not well so we allow that provision so they can designate someone else to produce.”

Changes go into affect August 24th.

The feds say this doesn’t change any of their plans to legalize recreational cannabis … that is still coming next year.
