time to celebrate a cariboo chilcotin museum milestone

A very special Celebration will be held tomorrow for The Museum of the Cariboo Chilcotin located in Williams Lake.

Museum Executive Director and Curator, William Adams talks about it’s original ribbon cutting ceremony and what’s planned for tomorrow.

“The ribbon cutting was on August 7th 1991 and on august 7th 2016 we’ll be celebrating the museums 25th anniversary with a heritage festival”.

Over the past twenty-five years alot of history has been donated so we asked Adams how many artifacts call the Museum home at the present time?

“We have probably close to nine thousand artifacts. Most of our artifacts have been collected since we opened this museum 25 years ago and we’re almost to capacity”.

The open house at the Museum will be held tomorrow morning starting at 11 with a plaque unveiling then an afternoon of of music, traditional children’s games and a lunch hour community picnic will start at noon in Boitanio Park in Williams Lake.

Dignitaries expected to be on hand for the Museum’s open house include Williams Lake Mayor Walt Cobb, Conservative M-P Todd Doherty, Cariboo Chilcotin Liberal M-L-A Donna Barnett, as well as CRD Directors Joan Sorley and Steven Forsyth.
