Quesnel Mayor Crosses Finish Line First

Quesnel Triathlete Bob Simpson, also the Mayor, won his age category at the BC Sprint Championships in Victoria on Sunday. (July 31)

Simpson was first in the 60 to 64 category completing the 750-meter swim, 20-kilometer bike and 5-k run in one hour, 12 minutes and 29 seconds.

That was almost 2 minutes faster than his winning time in Prince George last month.

Simpson was 12th overall in this weekend’s race out of 120 competitors and he has the 6th fastest bike ride out of all the competitors.

Up next is a Provincial Olympic distance race in Kelowna on the 21st.
