City Seeks Partners For Cariboo Lodge to Help Address Affordable Housing

The City Of Williams Lake is seeking partners for the Cariboo Lodge project to help address the City’s affordable housing needs.

Scott Nelson, a recently elected Councillor, says he believes it will be one of the top items on the agenda when Council resumes on Dec. 2.

“It was a huge election issue…I’m pretty sure this going to be on top of the agenda, for Council to have an early consideration.”

“We need more people to our downtown core, we need to look after our citizens in our community, specifically our senior citizens…It’s a key project.”

A recent interactive map launched by the BC Non-Profit Housing Association meanwhile shows a vast majority of Britsh Columbians are at a crisis level of spending when it comes to rent.

The interactive map can be viewed through the Rental Housing Index webpage.
