Cariboo Athletes Back From BC Summer Games

3 gold, 3 silver and 6 bronze.

That was the Cariboo’s medal haul at the BC Summer Games in Abbotsford.

The boy’s softball team, which included 6 players from 100 Mile House, 5 from Lone Butte and 3 from Williams Lake, won the gold medal.

Tyleen Scaino captured gold in wrestling in the girl’s 47 kilogram class and Quesnel’s Hailey Doucette was first in girl’s wakeboarding.

Hailey also won a bronze medal in wakeskate.

Hannah Doucette won silver in wakeskate.

Noah Woollends captured a silver in wakeskate and a bronze in boy’s wakeboarding.

Other Quesnel athletes bringing home medals included Natasha Grapes, who won two bronze in equestrian, Bazil Spener was third in boy’s high jump and Jerman Severeid was the runner-up in male shot put.

RecycleBC announced this morning that Curbside Recycling Collection will start in the Red Bluff and Lhtako Dene Nation communites, outside of Quesnel, on October 7. New bins will be delivered to households on the weekend of September 20 and 21.
