Quesnel Kids Get To Play Cops And Robbers

Quesnel RCMP are hosting a mini Mounties camp on Saturday. (July 23)

Sargeant Chris Riddle, who has ran the camps since his arrival in Quesnel in 2013, says it has been very successful.

“I think the kids get a lot out of it. I know the police officers that volunteer their time get a lot out of it. It creates a positive atmosphere where children can feel comfortable with police and the positive relationship with youth is something we’re very interested in, start them off right, and I think its a great program.”

The camp features 40 kids between the ages of 5 and 11.

Riddle says they break the kids up into 4 troops and go through policing essentials such as crime scene management, handcuffing and finger printing.

He says there will also be a police dog demonstration and police car demonstration and the kids will also get to put some of their buddies into the back seat.
