Excitement and emotion overtook the Lakecity Friday morning as a rugby player will be heading to Rio, Brazil for the 2016 Summer Olympic Games.
Andrea Moleschi’s daughter Kayla was selected as 12 women by Rugby Canada to the first-ever Canadian Olympic women’s rugby sevens team.
Kayla began playing rugby when she 14 years old and has played rugby ever since, even bringing back a gold medal from the Pan American Games last year.
The women’s rugby sevens event takes place at the Deodoro Stadium from Aug. 6-8.
