United Concrete and Gravel Look to Reconstruct

Reconstruction of United Concrete and Gravel could soon be on the horizon.

Sue Zacharias is the wife of owner Paul Zacharias.

She says as they continue to operate out of an ATCO trailer, they’ve gotten all the debris cleaned up and are working with the City and architects.

“Through all the paperwork that we have to go through in order to get started building, we have our basic design for our development permit application and we’re just managing. We’re managing quite well-we even got rid of our porta potties the other day and we have an outdoor toilet that has running water with an outhouse built around it but it has running water, and a sink and toilet and we’re happy.”

Zacharias says many things have fallen into place that will cut back the time they need for some of the parts for the batch plant.

She’s hopeful that they will receive a building permit within the next two to three weeks.

A fire had destroyed a building containing the font office, multi-bay shop and mixing hoppers on May 2, 2016.
