The City of Williams Lake has unanimously ratified the terms of a new three-year collective agreement covering outside and inside workers.
Mayor Walt Cobb says although he was not part of the negotiation committee he’s happy that it’s settled.
“We had asked for a 4-year term-well actually we had asked for a 5-year term but they went for a three-year term and I understood it well and there was respect from both sides.”
96% of the members represented by the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 882-B voted on ratification.
The settlement provides for wage increase totaling 5.25% over the three-year contract.
