Quesnel Kangaroos In Trouble ?

Quesnel may end up with a brand new 1400 seat Arena with no team to fill those seats.
That possibility came up at the most recent North Cariboo Joint Planning Committee meeting.
Roos Vice President Mirko Pellizarri addressed Quesnel City Council members and the northern CRD Directors.
He says `they can probably make it through this next year but if things stay status-quo and we don`t have access to our sponsors being able to advertise, which is a huge part of our revenue, we definitely won`t have a team in the new arena.
The Roos say their cost per game is around 821 dollars which they say compares to just 345 for the Williams Lake Stampeders.
Pellizarri says they have also had to cut back to just one practice a week.
He’d like to see that figure back to two in some sort of package deal for all of their ice time, something he says the Quesnel Millionaires used to have when they were still here.
Quesnel City Councillor Ron Paull noted that something had to be done because they would look pretty stupid opening a new arena without a hockey team.
Mayor Bob Simpson cautioned that it was important not to burden the taxpayer in any deal and suggested that staff come back with a number of options.
